Holly Kay Martin, 57, of Ettrick, WI formerly of Minnesota City, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Gundersen Health System.

She was born on December 7, 1961 in Winona to Merlin and Anita (Ahrens) Lafky. Holly grew up in Lewiston, graduating from Lewiston High School then attending Rochester Technical College to become a dental assistant. On July 24 1982 she married Richard “Rick” Martin and they were married until he passed away on July 26, 2011. Holly worked as a dental assistant and office manager at Walnut Street Dental for over 30 years until her retirement in 2017. In 2014 she met Gene Berg and from there, their adventurous relationship began. She enjoyed baking, hiking, camping, and being outdoors.

She is survived by her daughter, Mercedes Martin; partner, Gene Berg; mother, Anita Lafky; siblings, Kelly Lafky and Cameron (Robin) Lafky; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rick and father, Merlin.

Thomas H. Carter Jr., 77, of rural Fountain City, formerly of Independence, died Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.


Tom was born November 30, 1941 in Duluth, Minn. to Thomas and Mary (McMillan) Carter Sr. He married Barbara Taylor in La Crosse.

He was an auto upholsterer for many years. He worshipped with his wife at Bethel Lutheran Church in rural Arcadia.


Tom is survived by his wife, Barbara; five children, Billy (Patti) Rosenow, Thomas E. Carter,
Tamara (Dylan) Green, Tarey Carter and Mark Carter; 11 grandchildren, Tommy Carter, Isaiah,
Audrey, Eva, Isla, Anneleise, Eli, Adeline Green, Billy J., Lita and Amanda Rosenow. He is
further survived by other relatives and friends.


Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2019 at Bethel Lutheran Church, rural Arcadia with Rev. Ron Baerbock officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from noon until time of services.

Emma L. (Cordner) Loeffelholz, 81, of Sparta, died Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse.


A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Randy Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Farmers Valley Cemetery, rural Sparta.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Online condolences may be offered to Emma’s family at www.schanhoferfh.com.

William John (Heeną) Thunder, Sr., Wakąja Hųųk , 32, of Tomah, WI, walked on on Monday, March 18, 2019. He was born on October 14, 1986, to Josiah H. Thunder, Sr., and Rosalie Gokee.

Heeną enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing video games, gambling, watching and playing basketball, teasing family and friends, and spending time with his children. We will lovingly remember his laughter, his kind and gentle nature, and his playful spirit.

He is survived by his children: Zeke, Naomi, Eric, Jasmine, and William, Jr.; companion Jolyn Beighley; parents; brother Josiah H, Jr (Katrina); sisters, Leah Thunder-Gajda (Eric) and Arlene Thunder (Chris Breeden); and many Ho-Chunk and Lac Courte Oreilles and Red Cliff Ojibwe extended family relatives.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mastin Center, in Fairchild, WI. Burial will be in the Fairchild Village Cemetery. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.

Kenneth “Ken” Leroy Dopson, 73, of Tomah, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, in his home surrounded by his family.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00, noon, on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. Tomah, WI. Pastor Bob Streeter will officiate.
