People don't join law enforcement for the awards and accolades, but it's always nice to be recognized for hard work especially when that recognition comes from the governor.

Recently Governor Walker recognized state troopers from around the state for their commendable service in the line of duty.

Local state trooper Carl Rowan, out of Black River Falls, received a Lifesaving Award for a July 4 incident.

"I was really quite humbled to be recognized," Rowan said.

On that day Rowan responded to a rest area along Interstate 94 in Jackson County for a report of a person having a seizure.

He was directed to an unresponsive female lying in the sleeper berth of a semi unit.
