The Jackson County trails winter riding season has come to an end. Trails were scheduled to close on Wednesday, March 15. We are in the middle of an early spring break-up and the trails are not frozen and under water in some areas.
We thank you all for a good winter season and look forward to opening the trails this summer, see you all May 15!
Jackson County is host to over 350 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. Trails are varied with over 150 miles of trail, which wind through State and County Forest lands, and 200 miles located in Wisconsin’s beautiful bluff country.
Riders will find all the amenities along the trail including food, fuel and lodging. For further information please call the Black River Chamber of Commerce at (800) 404-4008.
Maps of the trail are located at many vendors in the area for a nominal fee.
JACKSON COUNTY SNOWMOBILE PATROL
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department routinely patrols the public trails in Jackson County using two Artic Cat F5 snowmobiles. Trails are patrolled primarily on weekends and holidays.
The three most common violations are:
- Illegal operation on roadway/highway
- Failure to possess valid safety certificate
- Registration violations
Please be sure to read your rule booklet before operating your snowmobile.
DON'T DRINK AND RIDE
Alcohol is involved with 80% of all snowmobile related fatalities.
